Design Philosophy/Mission

McElf GlassWorks is a full service glass art studio specializing in custom stained glass and glass sculpture. Glass is a fascinating, unique material that withstands the tests of time. The journey of designing and watching your own heirloom come to life is an experience you and your family will never forget.

The artist, McElf, is a third generation glass artist; she has been designing and creating glass projects all her life. There is nothing she loves more than a challenge, an experiment, and building something you will always treasure.

McElf is a third generation glass artist who has studied creativity via glass in some form or another for her entire life. She received her BA in 2008, concentrating her studies in studio art glass methods and glass history. In addition, she has also studied extensively at Pilchuck Glass School, the Corning Museum of Glass, and Vitrum Glass Studio.

It was at Pilchuck Glass School that "McElf" stuck - hot shop floors are loud places and when 2300 degree glass is at stake, you don’t want to end up withthe wrong Megan!  She was soon more well known as McElf (the first part of her maiden name McElfresh) than as Megan.

While studying, McElf was extremely lucky to be accepted as a studio assistant at Vitrum Glass Studio, an establishment which enjoys a world–wide reputation as one of the finest privately-owned kilnformed glass studios and instructional centers in the United States. She continued to work there until she moved to Buffalo in 2011.

She now owns and operates her own full service glass studio in Buffalo New York.
